The Department imparts teaching and practical laboratory facilities for MBBS and BDS Students. Department also provides academic support to BSc Nursing students as well as research scholars. The clinical biochemistry laboratory attached to the department caters to the diagnostic needs of the MES Medical College Hospital. Our department is recognized for its quality teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students, medical research, patient care and training program. We conduct lectures and practical exercises for the undergraduate medical, postgraduate medical courses. In undergraduate teaching we employ innovative teaching techniques such as Problem Based Learning. The postgraduate students undertake their thesis work under the supervision of the faculty. The faculty is involved extensively in research activities related to basic, clinical and translational biomedical research.

The department has its own library which has the latest editions of all the major text books and reference books in the field of biochemistry for quick and convenient reference. The department also takes initiative in conducting various academic activities and CME’s.

This department pro-actively helps the faculty and researchers to propose research projects, research proformas and assistance in clinical and field research and collaborations.
